初心者でも聴きやすいと思うょ。
絶対にお気に入りリストに仲間入りのばず。
曲もだケドなんと言ってもこのジャケ！！
飾っておきたいくらいだわぁ
とにかくこのCDは１枚もっておくべき

ストラッティンとは「闊歩する」という意味。ソニー・クラークのピアノに、ジャッキー・マクリーンのアルト・サックス、アート・ファーマーのトランペットとメンバーも豪華。１９５８年の録音なのでもう半世紀も前のアルバムだがいつ聴いても飽きない。表題曲「クール・ストラッティン」と２曲目「ブルー・マイナー」が最高。小粋なジャケット写真とデザインは今でも新鮮だ。（松本敏之）

ドラッグのやりすぎにより、わずか31歳の若さで他界したピアニスト、ソニー･クラークの代表作。50年代のファンキーなムードをたたえながらもどこか、知的で複雑な要素を持ったアルバムだ。Cool Struttin'というタイトルとジャケットのおしゃれなセンスはおよそファンキーな土くささと相容れないし、Blue Minorの哀愁を帯びたテーマはホットに語りかけ、心を熱くさせる。米国におけるクラークの人気は意外なほどないという。日本ではマイナー好みな日本人の感性にフィットしたのかジャズ喫茶の超人気盤であった。アート・ファーマー（tp）、ジャッキー・マックリーン（as)というフロントラインも、哀愁とファンキー、知性など複合的なムードを引き出すことに貢献している。また、P・チェンバース（b)、F・J・ジョーンズ(ds)といえば当事のマイルスのリズム陣。後乗りのビートで全体をぐいぐい引っ張り、フロントラインを煽っている。58年といえばハード・バップが熟成しファンキーな色合いのジャズが絶頂期を迎えつつあったが、カーティス・フラーの「ブルースエット」やジャズ・メッセンジャーの諸作と並ぶ名演であろう。しかし、あえて単なるファンキージャズと一線を画したくなるのはクールなハード・バップという形容矛盾を犯してしまうほど、ソニー・クラークの美的で底知れぬ才能のゆえである。60年代、70年代、80年代のジャズシーンの中で、ソニー・クラークがどのような演奏をしていたか、聞いてみたいと思うのは僕だけではないだろう。だが、短い時間に生き急ぐようにして吹き込まれたクラークのキラ星のような作品の生命は永遠の輝きを放ち続けるに違いない。
