Sir Paul Harvey編の旧版 "The Oxford Companion To Classical Literature" より遙かに項目数も増え解説文も丁寧な優れた作品になりました。図版も地図も省略されてしまいましたが、廉価なペーパーバックで入手できるとは喜ばしい限り。古代ギリシア・ラテンの西洋古典文学に少しでも関心のある方は是非購入されることをお奨めいたします。決して無駄にはならぬ筈です。

かつての旧版よりも遙かに内容の充実した良書となりました。図版や地図の類は一切ないものの、項目数も記載内容も本書は旧版よりも、ずっと優れています。ギリシア・ラテン文学に関心のある人には、必携の１冊と言っても過言ではありません。

very useful book

Much better than the older version "The Oxford Companion to Classical Literature"( by Sir Paul Harvey ). Although it has neither maps nor illustrations , it contains more abundant entries & contents.
I recommend the book for everybody from a young puppil to an aged scholar.
