I must admit that Coca Kola was not what I expected. It was not a bad read but it lacked the excitement and flow that Bad Apple had. This book did NOT have me on the edge of my seat like the first one. Even though the book is titled Coca Kola, the story focused alot on the other characters as well, especially Chico and Cross.
Life was good for Kola and she was moving up in the drug game but I really didnt find her to be that interesting in this installment.I found myself more intrigued with Apple and what she was going through. Apple really hit rock bottom and I actually felt a little bit sorry for her which was a shock to me because I couldnt stand her by the time I finished with Bad Apple. In a way I am really hoping that both Kola and Apple can put their differences aside so they both can be the Baddest Chicks of New York TOGETHER. Especially since one of their men can't be trusted and the other is out for himself now.
I also noticed that this story was very descriptive, giving details is ok but describing every single minor character, club, street, clothes, cars and location is a bit much.I can't even begin to tell you how many dudes were light skinned and had braids in this book. This took alot away from the story and was frustrating at times.
The ending did nothing for me and only left me with more questions than answers which we will hopefully get in Checkmate.I really enjoy the work of Nisa Santiago but I noticed that Im not really enjoying her sequels too much. Her first books always pack a bigger punch than the next.
I'm sorry to say,but Coca Kola fell flat!
