イージーメンテナンス
   コピー機の主要な部分(感光ドラム、帯電器、現像器、クリーナー、トナー)をコンパクトにまとめた一体型カートリッジを採用しており、ユーザーが自分でカートリッジを交換するだけで安定したコピーが得られる、定期点検・トナー補給不要のイージーメンテナンスを実現している。

省エネ・エコロジー設計
  • キヤノン独自のオンデマンド(サーフ)定着方式により、省電力とコピースタート時の待ち時間を解消するクイックスタートを実現している。この技術は、一定の加熱時間が必要な熱ローラー定着方式のかわりに特殊な薄膜フィルムを使うもので、用紙にトナーを定着させる際の加熱・冷却が一瞬で行えるため、省エネに大きく貢献する。
  • オートパワーオフ機能を搭載するなど、「国際エネルギースタープログラム」の基準に適合している。
  • ローラー帯電/転写方式の採用により、オゾン発生量を大幅に抑えているほか、部品点数を低減し、パーツのリサイクルを可能にするため、プラスチック部品への材質表示を行っている。
その他の特長
  • A4毎分4枚のコピースピードを備えている。
  • ハガキサイズから最大A4までの幅広い用紙サイズと、官製ハガキ、カラーペーパー、ラベル用紙、OHPフィルムといった豊富なマテリアルを使用することができる。
  • カートリッジ交換により、ブラック・レッド・ブルー・グリーン・セピア5色のモノカラーコピーが可能。

説明書がFC520と兼用になっており、使われている図がFC520のもので、分かりにくい。

電源ボタンと給紙口は、重要な部分だが、それについての記述がはっきりしていない。

つまり、説明書にメリハリがない。

給紙口のところに、突起物があり、それを手で左右に開く必要があるが、これは説明書

には書いてないので、手探りで理解した。

なお、本機は、原稿台移動式、つまり上部が動いてコピーする仕組みだ。

また、給紙方法は手差しで、一枚ずつコピーする方式だ。
