人気の920よりも小さくカラバリもCanonにしては豊富。コンパクトになって持ちやすくなったし、シーン認識もなかなか優秀で使い勝手は良いです。ただ920で良かったサーボAF機能がオートモードでは使えなかったりするのでその点はマイナスです。通常撮影モードにすれば使えるので問題はありませんが。1000万画素で十分で大画面なら920。使いやすさなら510です。基本性能がかなり高く写真は綺麗です。特にDIGIC4になって高感度ノイズも減って夜景も以前より良いです。

基本的な機能はIXYD920ISとそこまで大きく変わらないです。
しいて変更点を言うなら画素が200万画素程度増えたということと、１８シーン自動認識がついたというこだわりオートでしょうか？

ただ、ボディもだいぶスリムになってますし（その分、画面はすこーし小さくなりましたが）１２１０万画素の４倍ズーム、広角も２８ミリあるので総合力が現状ですとトップクラスの商品ではありますから長く使用していただけるようなものであるのは確かだと思います。

コンパクトで軽いほか、持ちやすい筐体に、
機能性の高いコンパクトカメラだと思います。
子どもの表情を瞬間に捕まえるのは難しい筈だったのが、
コンパクトカメラで実現するなんてびっくり！
シャッタスピードの速さは期待する以上でした。

操作ボタンがシンプルの割りに設定が分かりやすく、
マニュアルを読まなくても直ぐに使えるところが嬉しい！
