白水社のエクスプレスシリーズには二つの特徴がある。一つは少数言語を幅広く収録してくれていること、二つ目は「エクスプレス」の名が示すとおり短期間での習得をモットーにしているため、説明がどうしても概略的になること。
他のラテン語系統の言語をすでにマスターしていれば別だが、そうでなければ「接続法」や「半過去」が出てきたあたりから苦しくなるだろう（各3行の説明でわかるはずがない！）。この書の他の欠点は、１．肝心な単語のアクセントの位置を示す工夫がないこと（あとに挙げた本ではイタリックで表示されている）、２．各課の会話と文法説明が必ずしも密接に連動していないこと。
さいわいにして同じ出版社からずっと詳しい姉妹版とも言うべき『ルーマニア語の入門』が出されており、あくまでも第一歩の入門として割り切るなら、本書はありがたい参考書である。

ＡＢＣからルーマニア語を学ぼうと思ったら、ＣＤ付きの本書以外に選択肢がないのが現状だろう。
基本的な文法は一通り触れられているが、会話で頻出する語彙や表現がごっそり抜け落ちているのも事実。また何を言いたいのか理解し難い解説も見受けられる（紙数の制約上やむを得ないと思うが）。特にわかりにくい代名詞や再帰動詞の理解にはイタリア語の文法書が参考になる。
欠点もあるが、このシリーズの中では出来が良いほうではないか。

数は豊富とは言わないが、付属のCDに動詞変化がかなり入っています。
耳で覚える人にはうってつけです。
エクスプレスシリーズの中で、最高級の評価(9冊位しか観ていないが)です。
文法は少し抜けているところもあるみたいですが、ルーマニア語入門等と併用すればいいと思います。
