本を開けて最初の数ページにprocessingで作成された(であろう)サンプルが記載されています。
これをみるだけで、processingの可能性にテンションがあがっちゃいました。

内容はというと、プロセッシングの文法説明から実際の作品を作って
PDFやWeb上に公開するまでの手順を丁寧に解説してくれてます。
processingのリソースについても詳説してくれているので、
非常にうれしかったです。
また、著者の前川さんの千篇書道を作るまでの思考の過程を
みれたのもよかったです。

初心者が始めるには最適だと思います。

Processingで何ができるか、自分で確かめられる本です。USBカメラを使って画像を取り込めるプログラムはとても面白いですよ。他の環境でも同じようなことができますがProcessingでは非常に簡単にできます。あと、デバッグの仕方やエラーメッセージの読み方が丁寧に解説されています。プログラミングが全く初めてという方も、迷うことなく安心して独習できる気配りがなされています。装丁もデザイン系の方が書かれただけあり、プログラミング関係のいかにも”理系”という他書よりカッコイイです。ただ、１つ問題があります。書籍に掲載されているサンプルプログラムがダウンロードができないこと（見落としていたらゴメンナサイ）。書籍の後半部の掲載プログラムにはいくつか誤植があること、です。誤植は仕方がないとしてダウンロードができないのは少し疲れます。教育的配慮なのかと思いますが。。。processingでできることをざーっと確かめるにはちょっと不便に感じました。

改訂版が2008年3月発売予定らしいです。
あわてて買うと損するかも
