新作はリズムもののアルバムになる、ベースメントジャックスとも作業した、とCyndiは発言していた。そしてその通り、かなりハウス寄りのリズムアルバムとなっている。

ほんとにクール、かっこいいCyndi。55歳にしてこのアルバム。アコーステッィク路線も良かったが、やはり、年甲斐もなく不良おばさんでいてくれると嬉しくなる。

ただし、である。宣伝文句にﾞポップﾞとかﾞキャッチーﾞといった言葉が踊っているが、これはあまり鵜呑みにしてはいけない。なぜなら本作は、ﾞポップﾞではなくﾞクールﾞだからだ。『SHE'S SO UNUSUAL』や最近の『SHINE』といった、弾けるようなポップアルバムとは違うからだ。全体的に冷静な歌唱でお得意のシャウトはほとんどないし、いわゆるキャッチーな曲もそんなにないし、歌詞も内向的でシリアスな視点から書かれたものが多いからだ。

つまりファンの方にはこう言えば分かりやすいかと思う。本作は、『SISTERS OF AVALON』に現代的なハウス音楽の意匠を施したアルバムである、と。

上に書いたように、『SHE'S SO UNUSUAL』や『SHINE』の路線を期待して聴くと戸惑うかもしれない。しかしひとたびCyndiのやりたいこと・言いたいことを理解すれば、かなり中毒性の高いアルバムだと言える。

いろんなことを見つめ直しつつ踊りましょう。

久々にシンディ聴きました。

なんと言ってもＣＭでも流れていた10-SET YOUR HEARTがカッコイイ！
その他にも6-SAME OL'STORY、11-GRAB A HOLD、ちょっと80'sのにおいのある12-RAIN ON MEなど、後半の曲の方が個人的には好きでした。

昔の音にこだわらずどんどん新しい音を取り込んでいる感じがステキです。

１stアルバムのような「アルバム全曲がシングル候補！」という感じではありませんが、バラエティに富んだ楽曲群の中に、今後シンディの代表曲に加わりそうな曲が何曲もチラホラ見えているアルバムだと思います。

　私のように80年代からのファンにはたまらないアルバムではないでしょうか。
　しょっぱなの3曲で「アレッ、ずいぶんハウスに傾斜しているな〜」と思うのもつかの間、全曲通して聞くとこれは80年代のシンディ復活！といった内容のダンス・ポップチューンのオンパレードです。
　特にシングルの06やCMソングの10、そして11と、ドライヴ感あふれたキャッチーな楽曲に、思わず拍手喝采、涙なくして聴けない、といったところでしょう。
　ただ、ヴォーカルは決して浮かれた感じがなく非常に抑制的で、歌詞もまた内省的なものも多く、人生経験に裏打ちされた成熟さを醸し出しています。
　家でも車中でも通勤通学中でも、何度も聴き直したくなること請け合いです。
　しかし、なぜあのマドンナと、新譜の発売時期も、内容までも似通ってしまうのでしょう？昔のようにあの二人を比較したくありませんが、それもまた80年代からの因縁と言えるでしょう。
