Admittedly, I haven't used these with my daughter yet... but I did go through the entire set and here is what I think so far:
Pros:
- Brightly colored - attracts the attention of young children.
- Set includes letters, numbers, shapes, colors AND words... very comprehensive set. Most other brands, you'd have to buy each set separately and that could get expensive.
- The box is sturdy and will (hopefully) withstand being manhandled by a toddler. Unlike those chintzy paperboard card boxes.
Cons:
- Letters - upper and lower case are on individual cards. Seems like they could have saved a lot of space by having upper case on one side and lower case on the other. Also - the letters themselves are very small (1"?) while the cards are at least 5 X 3 ". Seems like an awful lot of wasted space. I was hopign this could be something we could throw in with our bags and take with us wherever we go but it's quite bulky.
- Numbers - same thing, sort of. The number itself is quite small. There are pictures on the cards as well so the child can learn to associate what 5 looks like - again, there is a pattern on the flip side of the card. Just seems like a waste to me.
To each his/her own, I guess. I far would have preferred a sturdier card to so many cards.
