６０年代末にスティーブ ミラー バンドを抜けてから、アラバマのマッスル ショールズでソロアルバムを制作し、たちまち評判を得た。このアルバムは
その町の一流リズム セクションをフィーチャーしており、これを率いるギターリストのデュアン オールマンが全篇にスライド、ドブロ をプレイして、特に、Loan Me a Dime でのソロは、ボズとデュアンの二人のキャリアの中でも最高の出来に入る。

確かに”SLOW DANCER”や”SILK DEGREES”あたりの強力AORサウンドを期待してはだめです(^^;。あくまでも、R&BやBLUESを基調とする彼の原点を聴きたい方にお勧めです。
＃でも、やっぱりあの声だけは昔から同じですね(^^;
10分超の大作、"LOAN ME A DIME"が素晴らしいです。「10セント貸してくれよ」って、そんな時代が彼にもあったのかな、、と思ってしまいます。
あと、別の楽しみ方としては、あのALLMAN　BROS. BANDの名ギタリスト、D.オールマンが参加してます。
自作以降は少し洗練されてゆき、当時のシスコサウンド（初期のジェファーソンエアプレインやこれまた初期のS.ミラー・バンド辺り）に近い音になります。
＃と言うか、初期のS.ミラー・バンドには在籍していましたね(^^;
その後AORの雄としてブレイクするのはもう少し先のお話。。
