This book was written by a PBY Catalina pilot who served in World War 2. This edition has been updated by the original author's eldest son. It consists of segments of interviews with PBY pilots and crews, and gives a very good insight into the activities that the airman undertook from those airmen's points of view.
Whilst the book covers PBY operations undertaken by all the allied forces all over the globe, there is a heavy emphasis on the south west Pacific theatre of the war. This does not diminish the book's two predominant themes: 1) the PBY Catalina was a very robust aircraft that performed far beyond its original design specifications; and, 2) the men who operated these aircraft in a time of conflict were very capable people whom were devoted to a cause.
It is a great read.
