I bought these sight unseen for my 6 year old son, because he's currently a big fan of the Biscuit "I Can Read" series, and has also enjoyed reading books from many of the Scholastic Phonics box sets. This Biscuit phonics set, which consists of 12 tiny books about 8 pages long, has the same great illustrations and cute storylines as the "I Can Read" books. However, they are written at a much lower reading level and are very, very short, and were therefore somewhat uninteresting to my son.
While an excellent product, I would have to recommend these ONLY for the very earliest readers. They would be super for the 3 or 4 year old, or perhaps a beginning Kindergarten reader, as they really do a good job of working with a very basic number of sight words (the, and, etc.) and introducing just a few new words each book. My son and I will be putting these away for now, but I'll be sure to keep them for my 2 year old as she gets ready to read!
