一言で言うと物足りない・・・という感じのアルバムです。選曲自身の間違いではなく、これは、vol．２が表しているようにこのグループとしての失速感から来ているのではないかと思います。マイケル・マクドナルドを悪者にするつもりはないが、トム・ジョンストンの抜けたDoobie！耳障りがよく、コンパクトにまとまった聞きやすいだけのコーラスバンドというのが本件を聞くと如実にわかります。アルバムジャケットもパッとせず、いささか手抜きの感が強いです。AORのDoobieファンには５つ星となるアルバムでしょう。バンドとしての一体感が感じられた頃（スタンピード）が懐かしい・・・

トム・ジョンソンが完全に抜けた後の「運命の轍」から、最終作「リアル・ラブ」までの作品群を集めたベスト版です。
ですので、歌はパット・シモンズと、マイケル・マクドナルドのみでちょっと寂しい・・・・。

この時期のドゥービースは完全にAORの旗手となっていて、AORミュージシャンの最高峰としてグラミー賞までもらっているのですが、初期のワイルドさが好きな人にはどうもアルバムがおとなしく感じます。
（ただし、当時のドゥービース、ライブは相変わらすワイルドだった。AORなのに甘ったれたところがないところがサスガでした。）
AOR好きなら絶対のお勧め盤。

なお、本アルバムには今までのドゥービースのアルバムには収められていない、「リトル・ダーリン」という曲が収められているので、全アルバム持っている人でもこの盤は買う価値があります。
「リトル・ダーリン」は実に素晴らしい名曲です。

それもそのはず、この曲はあの偉大なるマーヴィン・ゲイが、新しい妻のことを歌って大ヒットさせた名曲のカバー。
マーヴィン・ゲイの原曲は、どちらかというとフィーリング重視の歌い方でしたが、ドゥービーズ・バージョンではAORとロックがうまく混ざったかっちりした曲に仕上がり、非常に優れています。

後の曲は全てそれぞれのアルバムからカッティングしただけのもので、バージョンが違うとかはありません。
