70年代後半から80年代前半にかけて活動したアイルランドのバンド、The Boomtown Ratsのベストアルバム。

バンド最大のヒット曲である(10)I Don't Like Mondaysは、さすがの完成度を誇る。
巧みな展開と計算し尽くされたテンポ操作、絶妙な間の取り方、
そしてキャッチーなメロディーに包まれた毒のある歌詞など、最高のポップソングだ。

ただ、この曲はThe Boomtown Ratsのほんの一面に過ぎない。
パンク色の強い(4)、鋭いギターリフを聴かせる(13)、痛切な叫びが印象的な(17)など、
ただポップなだけではない多様な名曲ぞろいだ。

同年代に活動したバンドである、THE CLASHやSEX PISTOLSはもはや伝説となっているにも関わらず、
The Boomtown Ratsは今の日本ではほとんど無名に近い。
しかし、The Boomtown Ratsが残した楽曲はTHE CLASHやSEX PISTOLSに劣らず魅力的だ。
間違いなく再評価されてしかるべきバンドだろう。
