「タンゴ・イン・ザ・ナイト」のキラキラアレンジが大好きな自分にとっては、プロデューサーでもあったメンバーのリンジーが抜けた後ということで興味の湧かないアルバムで今まで放置でした。シングルの「Save Me」がなんとなく無理して勢いつけているような印象があったからなのかも。

が、１曲目からこれぞクリスティンと言えるそよ風のようなさわやかポップス。新加入のビリー・バーネットとゆったりデュエットを聴かせる「Do You Know」、幻想的なアルバムタイトル曲等クリスティンがらみの楽曲で水準以下のものはなし。
スティービーのfeat曲は泥臭いアメリカンロック寄りのものが目立ちますが、これも相変わらずの存在感で違和感なく感じました。アルバムラストの「The Second Time」はアコギのみともいえる程シンプルな曲ですが、スティービーの声のチカラでスケール感大きく聴けます。
新加入組２人の楽曲も悪いものではなく多少ブルージーな感はいなめないですが、この流れの中で普通に聴けてしまいましたね。

完成度という点では「噂」「タンゴ〜」等には遠く及びませんが、長い歴史の中でならこんなアルバムがあってもいいんじゃないかという気にさせられました。

　先日黄金期のメンバーが復活して新作が発表されたフリートウッドマック
このアルバムはちょっと見落としがちですが、これもマックの作品の中では
重要な部分を占めています
　リンジーがタンゴ･イン･ザ・ナイトで行ったジクゾ-パズルのような
レコーディング方法、その作り出した作品を主体にツアーを行ったら

この6人のメンバーでのツアーが各国で高い評価を受けイギリスではウエンブリ-アリーナ10日間コンサートがチケットがすべて売り切れるといった快挙を見せその勢いでこのアルバムを作り上げました
だからこのアルバムはライブで演奏できる曲が優先なので黄金期のメンバーのライブ盤(80年発表）の数字50万枚って考えれば

アメリカで50万枚売れれば成功だったのです

　結局アメリカで5!0万枚、全世界では400万枚売れ成功だったのですが・・
ビックマックとしては物足りなくなってしまったようです
ただ数字はぜんぜんこだわらないといった内容で
今でも新鮮な曲が収録されていて、本を読む感触で聴いてくれれば
楽しめる出来だと思っています

４の｢Do You know｣はクリスティンの曲の中でもベストだ。

８以降の曲の流れなんか、リック･ヴィトーとビリー･バーネット
だからこう作れたといえるほどのまとまりのよさ。

クリスティンがイニシアチブをとっているとは思うが、
このバンドは結成以来、リズム隊を軸に変幻自在に
活動してきたのだから、これはマックじゃないという気が
ぜんぜんしない。

1曲目の出だしで感動してしまいます。　リンジーが抜けてもマックって特別なんですね。神秘的なバンドです。また復活して欲しいような、して欲しくないような…。
