150 Best Bathroom Ideas [ハードカバー]

This is the book for you if you have an unlimited budget and want contemporary bathroom ideas. It's huge, almost 600 pages and like it's companion, "150 Best Kitchen Ideas", it has very little text. It's a photo book. There are few page numbers and pages with only photos have no page numbers at all.

A lot of the bathrooms owed their WOW factors to the phenomenal views outside the windows. Many of the bathrooms had floor to celing glass to capitalize on those views. Don't get me wrong, many of the bathrooms were unusual and cool, but it seemed the focus was more on the "LOOK" versus the WOW factor and functionality. There are lots of square tubs and sinks, chrome stainless, steel and white in these bathrooms. The unsual fixtures and features make this book worth perusing.

Even though I like a contemporary design, most of these bathrooms left me cold. I really liked the Kitchen book (which is also Contemporary), but the bathrooms in 150 Best Bathrooms did not generate a feeling of warmth. My favorites though did use color, maybe in the tile OR they used something that made me say WOW. For example, in the Surfaces section starting on page 548, great use of tile and there is even mosaic tile art of a woman with gloves - what an artisan! The best part of the book to me WAS the Surfaces chapter and the Fittings and Accessories, both at the end of the book. There is a Directory at the end of the book, but it only lists architects. No identifying information is given regarding the products or manufacturers used for the "gorgeous" tub or sink. On each of the designs it only tells the Designer's name, location of bathroom, i.e. Amsterdam, year of construction and the Photographer name. Good luck in finding any of the products if you fall in love with anything.

Overall, if you are totally into the contemporary bath, this would be a good book, but you'd have to have LOTS of money and loads of space for these luxurious baths. I would suggest checking it out of the library before purchasing.

Exquisite book. As an architect, I could benefit from a "Source" list--the photos tempt my clients, but some of the product manufacturers are difficult, sometimes impossible, to track down.

This book is a must for designers working on private residential projects or service industry projects (hotels etc).

The book, like the others in this series (Apartment, Homes) is a thick compilation of properly classified collection of bathrooms. There are series of images for each project with generally floor plans and small write ups. Pictures are crisp and clear and materials and finishes can easily be picked up visually by designers if not described in the write ups.

A good and valuable buy.
