これはアクセプトのみならずHR/HM史上の名盤である。ツインリードを最大限活かしたイントロ、哀愁を帯びたメロディーライン、心を鼓舞するへヴィーなドラムスとベース、ウドの魂のヴォーカル、すべてが噛み合って強靭で感動的な世界を構築している。タイトルトラックは言うに及ばず、fight backの疾走感、head over heelsのタイトなリズム、losing more than…やguardian of the nightの美しいメロディー 、turn me onの完璧なまでのカッコよさ、捨て曲が全くない。これを聴かずしてロックを語るな！

ジャーマンメタルの雄、アクセプトの通算５枚目。
速さばかりがもてはやされていた当時のメタルシーンにおいて、彼らのサウンドはとても異質だったでしょう。そう思える程この作品は恐ろしくミドル克つヘヴィな曲ばかり。まさに質実剛健「漢のメタル」と呼ぶに相応しい名盤です。

こんな音楽作れるのは後にも先にもアクセプトだけだと思います。バンドにはよく「個性」や「らしさ」と言う言葉が使われますが、これほど個性が全面的に出ている物も珍しいですよほんと。改めてドイツ人の感性に平伏しました。Rammsteinも少なからず影響受けているのではないでしょうかね？

流石ヘヴィメタルの「ヘヴィ」を構築したメタル黎明期のバンド、その実力は侮れませんよ。最強のメタルです。

前作Restless and wildに比べ、ずっとメロディアス。タイトルトラック以外に彼らの代表作といえる曲が無いが、粒揃いで個人的には彼らの最高傑作だと思う。「地響きコーラス隊｣と言われた低く重いバックコーラスもこのアルバムが一番威力を発揮している。全体的に暗く重い曲が多く、Guardian of the nightなど悲しくなるほど美しい。マイナー臭いメロディーラインはまさに日本人好みでアメリカでは売れなさそうではある。最後のバラードはウドが歌っているにもかかわらず感動的な曲で、歌以上にバックのギターが「歌って｣いる。ジャーマンメタルファンは必聴。
