I love this Miffy book in comparison to the eponymous book (just titled "Miffy"; did I use that adj. correctly?). Basically, Miffy is invited to her Aunt Alice's for a shindig, and the book relates about all the activities that the characters enjoy. The book does "introduce" Barbara and Boris bears, and Grunty and Poppy pigs as well, but doesn't get into their personalities...I just like the fact that we own at least one book that does not contain only Miffy and her parents. The book cracks me up because it mentions the "train dance" (i.e.the conga) and the animals watch a video (so there is a tiny story within a story); the book was first published in 1992 in the Netherlands, so that explains the absence of any high-tech disks being involved here. We still have a VCR in our house, anyway, so my daughter knows what a video is. Simple graphics and bright colors draw a child in, and the storyline is not too elaborate. Dick Bruna knows his stuff.
