For more than 20 years, Victor Young composed some of the most beloved music Hollywood has ever produced, scoring over 300 films while notching a number of pop hits as a songwriter and performer. Around The World In 80 Days was his masterpiece - the soundtrack to an Academy Award winning film, including "Best Score" for its composer and "Best Picture" overall. The original soundtrack LP spent 10 weeks atop the charts, becoming the #1 album of 1957.
Yet, this classic album has been issued on compact disc just once - very briefly, nearly two decades ago! Now, on the 50th anniversary of its initial release, Hit Parade Records is proud to present the digitally remastered, expanded edition of Around The World In 80 Days. This deluxe reissue is packed with 23 tracks - over 70 minutes of music in sparkling stereo sound, including nearly 30 minutes of music from the film soundtrack never before available on either LP or CD.
Produced by renowned reissue specialist Didier Deutsch (whose credits include albums by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Johnny Mathis, as well as the soundtrack to How The West Was Won), Around The World In 80 Days features extensive new liner notes and a 20-page, full-color booklet - a must for anyone interested in great film or orchestral music! Even the lucky few who own the original MCA release will want to add this complete edition to their collection.
