10年前の欧州卒業旅行の際、なんと独ハンブルグで38ﾏﾙｸで見つけ、
感動して喜び勇んで買いました。決して、A new world record〜Time
あたりの王道路線ではないですが、じわぁ〜っと、良さが染みる様な感じです。
ジェフが本当にリラックスして楽しんで作ったのがわかります。
ジェフが昔から慣れ親しんで聞いてきた音楽を素地に作ったのでしょう。
あえて例えるなら、Secret messageみたいです。

９０年発表。Ｅ．Ｌ．Ｏ．での活動、数々のプロデュース、ウィルベリーズの活動を経て発表されたジェフ・リンの初めてのソロ・アルバムがこれ。いくぶんリラックスした雰囲気だが、末期Ｅ．Ｌ．Ｏ．とウィルベリーズを足して２で割ったかのようなジェフらしい分かりやすい作品だと思う。ジェフの技量を考えるとお手軽に作ったという印象も受けないわけではないが、曲の良さはさすがはジェフ・リン！と言わせるものを持っていると思う。実はこのアルバムはウィルベリーズ結成以前から製作がアナウンスされており、この作品がそのウィルベリーズの青写真になった可能性が高い。硬質なリズムをバックにオールディーズっぽいメロディが絡むシングルの１．はこのアルバムを典型する佳曲。完成度の高さで言えば後に発表されるＥ．Ｌ．Ｏ．名義のソロ作「ＺＯＯＭ」に譲るものの、曲そのものの魅力はシンプルな分だけこちらの方が高い。でもラストだけはちょっと理解できないな・・・。ポップ好きなら、やっぱり押さえたい作品でしょう。

ヴェテラン再生職人にしてELOリーダーのソロ作。彼はいつも同じスネア音を使うし、キーボードのキラキラってのもあちこちで使うので飽きる。ていうかどえらく退屈だ。それでもはまればいいわけで、これは良作。ジョージ・ハリスンがゲスト参加しているし、当然ながら彼のCloud9と質感が非常に近い。意外とバラードものがいい。でも各曲がいまいち適切なテンポで演奏されていないような気がするのは私だけだろうか。
