Arduino Duemilanove（またはその他、標準サイズのArduino）をイーサネットに接続するオプションボードです。Arduino Duemilanoveの上にかぶせる形で接続します。Arduinoの世界では、このようにかぶせる形で接続するオプションボードのことを、「シールド」と呼びます。
TCP/IPのクライアントまたはサーバを、とても簡単なスケッチ（プログラム）で実現することができます。ArduinoのIDE（統合開発環境）の、バージョン0012以降の物を使用して下さい。IDEは、Arduinoの公式サイト（http://arduino.cc/）からダウンロードすることが出来ます。
この製品の製造元は、イタリアのSmartProjects社です。同社がJAN/EANコードを持たないため、スイッチサイエンスが自社のJANコードを付与して発売しています。スイッチサイエンスから発売の製品だけの特典として、MACアドレスが1個付属します。MACアドレスとは、世界中に存在するイーサネット対応機器を一意に識別する番号です。LAN上で正常に動作させるためには、正式に発行されたMACアドレスが必要です。ただし、この製品自体にはMACアドレスを記憶する記憶領域が無いため、スケッチ（プログラム）の中で明示的に指定していただく必要があります。MACアドレスは、製品に貼付されたステッカーに記載してあります。
