In this book you will notice that the authors understood the platform really well and they have an excellent way of sharing this with the reader.
The one thing I really like about this book is that it makes no compromisses in the quality of the examples. While other Android introductions typically avoid using advanced concepts, as asynchronous reading of web resources, for their introduction examples, this book uses the all the right concepts directly from the beginning. This might make this book a little bit heavy for Android starters but once you are over the initial learning experience you should get this one.
You also find lots of examples for typical implementation requirements, which are hard to find otherwise.
A must buy for any serious Android developer.

"Android in Practice" is everything an experienced developer needs to develop first class applications for the Android platform. While not an omnibus tour, it includes everything a developer needs, including the OS tasking and networking models, UI, and storage.
Perhaps just as importantly, for honest-to-FSM professional developers it includes good coverage of setting up a build and test environment that will work with your pre-existing CI process.
"Hello, Android" is great if you don't know what you are doing. If you are a professional software developer, this is the book for you.

A lot of great material, well organized. Well worth the money. In a field otherwise crowded with sub-par Android books, this stands out as a reference/tutorial which is a real help to developers.
