ルー・ドナルドソンは50年代以降ブルーノートで録音を行なってきたが、60年代に一度同レーベルを離れアーゴに移籍、その後67年にブルーノートに舞い戻って本作を録音したら、大ヒットを記録した。タイトル曲は67年にビルボードのシングル・チャートの93位にランクされた。93位とバカにしてはいけない。ジャズの演奏がヒットチャート入りするなんてこと、めったにないことなのである。ちなみにブルーノートにとっては、リー・モーガンの「ザ・サイドワインダー」以来の快挙であり、珍事だった。当時流行していたブーガルーに目をつけたところが成功の秘密だろう。この時代のドナルドソンはR&B的要素の強い演奏を売り物にしていて、ここでもその種の演奏をソウルフルに演じている。
チャーリー・パーカー直系のアルト奏者＝ハードバッパーとしてのドナルドソンを愛するファンからは白い目で見られがちのアルバムだが、こういうポップ路線も楽しい。オルガンとギターを含む編成は、限りなくR&B的。そして、そのギタリストは若き日のジョージ・ベンソンである。（市川正二）
