ビートルズのプロデュースで名高いジョージ・マーティンを起用した８０年作品。
ビートルズ的な面も確かにあるが、基本的にはファーストアルバム以来のハードさで押しまくっている。
しかしファーストのようにストレートではなく、凝った音づくりがなされている。

世界的成功を受けてのレコーディングということで、リック・ニールセンとしては、やっとやりたいように出来たアルバムと言えるのでは？
この作品の発表と前後してトム・ピーターソンが脱退。その影響もあってか、セールス的には振るわず。
この後、バンドは長い低迷期を迎えることになる。全力で勝負を賭けたのにうまくいかなかったという感じか。

しかし、このバンドの攻撃的な面が好きな僕としては、このアルバムはかなり好きだ。
ジョージ・マーティンとの相性も良く、完成度も高い。
何かがちょっとズレていれば、傑作として評価されていたに違いないと思うのだが・・・。

ちなみに、この日本盤は０３年に日本独自でリマスターされたデジタルリマスター盤です。

ＣＨＥＡＰ　ＴＲＩＣＫの隠れた名盤です。オーバープロデュースだと批判される事もあるようですが、そんな事はありません。確かに前作Ｄｒｅａｍ　Ｐｏｌｉｃｅまでとは若干違い陰のある曲が多い印象ですが、個人的に５のＷｏｒｌｄ　Ｇｒｅａｔｅｓｔ　ＬｏｖｅｒなどはＣＨＥＡＰ　ＴＲＩＣＫ最高のバラードだと思いますよ。エンディングのリックのソロは鳥肌が立ちます。この人は決して派手ではないしテクニカルでもないですが、ホントにセンスの良いソロを弾く人です。ライブではこのアルバムの曲は演らないと思っていたら1曲目が２のＪｕｓｔ　Ｇｏｔ　Ｂａｃｋで、友達と抱き合って喜んだのを思い出します。Ｉ　Ｗａｎｔ　ＹｏｕやＩｆ　Ｙｏｕ　Ｗａｎｔ　Ｍｙ　Ｌｏｖｅの為にＯｎｅ　Ｏｎ　Ｏｎｅを買うぐらいなら絶対こっちを買うべし！

最高傑作とされる前作が余りにポップだったせいか、本作はあまりにも過小評価されている。陽気なメロディーと流麗なストリングスが印象的だった「ドリーム・ポリス」に比べ、本作は全体的に陰鬱なイメージで覆われている。耳に残るのはうなるようなギターのリフと切ないメロディーだ。しかしチープに同じものを求めてはいけない。これはスリリングなロックンロールを求めた彼らの究極の形なのだから。１のベースライン、２のイントロの打楽器(以外のものも叩いている)、３の効果音、４の切なさ、５のバラードの完成度の高さ、６の緊張感、７の疾走感、８の古臭さ、９の奇妙さ、１０のなんだこりゃ感(メンバーが参加していない様に聴こえる)、そして相変わらず意味深な歌詞(特に１、２)。それらの全てが愛おしい。
