リドリー・スコット監督の誰でも知ってる映画。ギーガーのデザインしたクリチャーは何度見ても実に繊細で怖いモノ無し。すっかり映画を離れて一人歩きしているスグレモノ。シガニー・ウィーバーも素晴らしいですが、後半まで生き残るベロニカ・カートライトの疲れた演技も素晴らしい。ヒッチコックの「鳥」でも子役の彼女を見ることができます。「エイリアン」以降、ジャンルに身を落とした感がある中、「ライト・スタッフ」でも、宇宙飛行士の妻を神経質に演じていて目が離せない人です。
