待ちきれなくて、訳のついていないimportを買ってしまいました。でも、やっぱり素晴らしいもので、いきなり泣かされちゃいました。落ち込んでいたせいか、ものすごく癒されました。彼女の声はやっぱり、聞くというより、落ちてくる、浴びるという感じ。私にとっては朝日です。まぶしいほどの朝の光です。歌詞の意味がもっとわかれば。彼女は一本しっかりとした芯みたいなのを持っていてきっとそれがすべてに表れているんだろうなって想います。
だから買うなら訳がついているほうがいいかも。彼女の言葉一つ一つに、ものすごく意味があって必ず心に響くから。この人の歌は、本当に何回聞いても飽きるということがない。おすすめですよ。

今だに愛聴している名作"Surfacing"から６年を経てリリースされた本作、まず変わってない事をとても嬉しく思いました。独特の包み込むような温かみのあるヴォーカルスタイル、細部まで丁寧でありながら一体感のあるサウンド作りは前作の延長にあると感じています。

今回のサウンドに特徴的なことの一つに約半数の曲でCelloを配している点がありますが、サウンド全体に自然に溶け込み、落ち着いた味わいと温かみを醸し出しているようです。これは冒頭の"Fallen"に代表される自然体の曲調に見事にマッチして魅力的です。

全10曲どれもSarahらしさに溢れたメロディと音色で仕上がっていますが、特にメロディに乗せたヴォーカル表現が冴える"Stupid"、"Train wreck"、"Perfect girl"などに魅力を感じています。前作"Surfacing"を好きな方には間違いなく気に入ってもらえることでしょう。またピアノの弾き語りで聴かせてくれる"Dirty little secret"によるエンディングも余韻を残します（前作はPianoとSawのインストでの印象的なエンディングでしたね）。

聴き終えたあと"Afterglow"のタイトルが示すとおり、夕映えの暖色とともに心地よい思い出が心に浮かぶ、そんな穏やかな感触を持つ傑作です。これから暫くは個々の歌詞が持つ意味合いなども味わいながら"Afterglow"の深みをさぐってみようと思っています。

前作から６年もの歳月を経てようやく発売となった今作はまさに待ったかいのある素晴らしい作品になるのではないでしょうか。
正直なところこれを書いている時点でまだ一回しか聴いてないのでたいした事は書けませんが思ったところをならべく簡潔にお伝えできればと思い投稿した次第です。

第一印象としては前作よりもアルバム全体の雰囲気が明るくなったような気がします。明るくなった分だけ深みも増したように感じました。

印象的な曲は１曲目の『Fallen』はストリングスが印象的なミディアムテンポのバラード（ビデオの方も秀逸なので機会があれば是非ご覧になってください）。４曲目の『Drifting』は浮遊感漂うような心地のよい曲（雨の日に聴くとあうかも）、６曲目の『Push』は優しい感じなんかもすご!くよかったです。

さてさてもっと書きたいような気もするんですが私のつたない文章ではとても伝えきれないと思ったのでここらで止めにします。

最後に歌詞カードの一番最後に
『Dedicated to my mother and daughter...』
って言う言葉が記されてありました。
このアルバムの根本にあるSarahの想いはこの一言に集約されているんでしょうね。
