I absolutely hate this book. It's no coincidence that the only other review here is from the publisher.
I'm pretty decent in Photoshop at this point, but was new to the concept of integrating 3D models into my 2D artwork. Well, unfortunately I'm not learning a whole lot here. The concept of the book seems to be this:
Here's a 2D scene for you to build with half-baked explanations and using obvious techniques. Now here's a 3D model that we made in Lightwave. Now drop the model into the crappy backdrop. Have fun! Oh, and don't expect us to get any of the tutorial file names that we reference correct....we may have named them differently. But that's what makes it fun! It's like a guessing game!
This book is extremely depressing, especially right after coming off the high that Derek Lea's book provided me previous to this waste of trees. I hate that I spent money on this....and yet I'm still compelled to finish it even though I know I'm not going to learn anything remotely useful. I must be sick in the head.
