誰もが知っているお話の本、たくさんある中から、いもとようこさんのものを選びました。やわらかい紙に描いてあるようなやさしい絵が好きです。動物（この本ではオオカミとぶた）の表情も豊かで、子供に分かりやすく書かれた文章とで、物語がテンポ良く進んでいきます。本の大きさも小さ目で、厚紙なところも、小さな子供にはめくりやすくて良いです。

１歳の息子は、なぜかオオカミがお気に入りで、ぷうー！っと家を吹き飛ばす場面では、いっしょにぷうー！としています。

いもとようこさんの絵が気に入って、このシリーズの絵本をいくつか買いましたが、この本が一番子供には受けが良かったです。
オオカミが息を吹きかけて、家を吹き飛ばすのを、大げさに読んでやると喜んでました。
この3匹のこぶたも作品によっては、1番上のこぶたと２番目のこぶたは食べられてしまうものもあるのですが、この本では、こぶたは誰も食べられません。
このシリーズの特徴として、どの作品も話の展開が早くて、話が短くされています。
2〜3歳ぐらいだと、あまり長いと話を読んでいる途中で待てなくなって次のページに行きたがるので、このくらいが限界かも知れません。
最後は、オオカミを煮えた鍋に落として殺してしまうので、やや残酷なのですが、そこは、「あちち、あちち」になりましたという感じでごまかして読んでました。
このシリーズは、厚紙でできていて、子供が少々乱暴に扱っても破れないのもおすすめの点です。

童話って、（悪者が死んでおしまいとか）見様によっては殺伐とした結末のものが多いのですが、この本では、絵のタッチが可愛いだけに、かえってラストシーンがものすごく残酷に見えてしまいました。幼い子ども向けの本なのに、生死を扱うのも好きになれませんでした。また、個人的には、このお話では末っ子が重いレンガを1個1個積んで丈夫な家を作るシーンが好きなのですが、そこが省略されているのも残念でした。
