ふと書店で目にとまって手にとった本ですが、その出会いに感謝したくなりました。筑波科学博で８５年に投函されたポストカプセル郵便が１６年の時空を超えて２００１年の元旦に配達された、その手紙とそれに対するメッセージのコンテスト入選作３９編を集めたものです。有名人でもない、まったく普通の人々の生活の営みが与えるこの感動は何なのでしょうか？戦争が起ころうとしているこの世の中で、本当の愛について考えさせられる本です。読みながら涙が止まらなかったのは久し振りでした。

「親から子へ 祖父母から孫へ 16年後に届けられた まっすぐなこころ」と本の帯にありますが、本当にそんな「まっすぐなこころ」が、切ないほどにぎっしりと詰まった本だと思います。また、手紙を提供された方々が、その手紙の内容とともに、それが届いた時の驚きや感動について書かれている点もとても良かったです。手紙の素晴らしさを改めて認識しました。
