ゲームやテキストエディタを作りながらJavaをゼロから学んでいく構成なので
楽しみながら勉強できました。無味乾燥な本に飽き飽きしてる人にもオススメです。
姉妹書の実践教室も一緒に読めば一気に中級者レベルまでいけるんじゃないでしょうか。

正直すべてを知るにはすくない内容です。
しかし、僕はこれでＪＡＶＡプログラミングの概要を理解できました。

ソースも結構わかりやすく書いてあるので、オススメです。

確かにこれ１冊でＪＡＶＡの基礎を全て習得することは出来ません。
とは言っても、この本は初心者にＪＡＶＡの世界を簡単に紹介してくれる入門書だと思います。
ＪＡＶＡの入り口で困っている人向けには役立つと思いますので星4つです。

私自身、自習用テキストを数冊買いましたが、それらの本を私は理解できませんでした。
例えば最初に買った本では、「必要なアプレットを追加して、自分の為のクラスを作りましょう」ということで、いきなり「スーパークラス」が紹介されておりましたが、
　『クラスやアプレットって何？』
　『アプレットとスーパークラスで宣言しているアプレットは違うの?』
などが気に成りだしたら、何を説明しているのかチンプンカンプンでした。
しかし、この本を読んだ事でそれらの本が何処を指していたのかは多少理解できるようになりました。
