ふたりが出会ってから１３年。
ふたりが言葉をかわしたのは、その間のわずか１年くらい。

しかもその１年も、ふたりは遠距離恋愛。
だからこそ、ささいな一言が、心にしみる。

離れているからこそ、言えること。
会えないからこそ、伝えられること。
だからこそ、育つ感情、強くなるキズナ。
そういうの、ありますよね？

夢、じゃないと思う。
遠距離恋愛、ってこういうものだと思う。

きっと、それがわかるひとしか、
遠距離恋愛、できないのかもしれない。
（言いすぎかなぁ）

今、わたしは遠距離恋愛してるけど、
それって、特権かもしれないって、
思わせてくれる大切な一冊でした。

アメリカと日本での遠距離の純愛物語。
本嫌いな人に薦めるとしたらこの小説が一番ではないでしょうか。
２、３時間で読める、平易な文章、登場人物に感情移入しやすい、
現実ではあり得ないけど身近に感じるストーリー、読後に最後の
数ページの続きを勝手に考えられる等々、とにかくシンプル。
でもいつも通勤電車で文庫本を読んでいる読書好きの人にも紹介できる
良い本。

細かい状況設定は無理があったりするけど、それも良いんじゃないでしょうか。

優しくそっと包まれる感じになれます。

著者は村上春樹ファンなのかな。幾度か文中に出てきます。
春樹ファンの人にもお勧め？

「純然たる恋愛小説」ですね。
どろどろしたところはどこにもなく、綺麗なまま貫かれています。恋におちるくだりも、アメリカと日本でメールや電話だけで恋をはぐぐむくだりも、偶然が重なったあとにすれ違いが起こるあたりも、「こんなことあるわけないじゃん！」とわかっていながら、それでも読むのを止められません。
女性の立場から書かれ、メールの内容も彼のものしか出てこないので、より一層切なくなるのかもしれませんね。若い女性が読むとぐっと来ることでしょう。
しかし、男性や人生の酸いも甘いも嗅ぎ分けた年代にとっては、冷ややかに受け取られる本かもしれませんね。
