5.0 out of 5 stars どこにでもある静かな生活の一つ, 2005/11/22
江國香織の「冷静と情熱のあいだ」の中にこの「静かな生活」を引用したシーンが出てくる。
そのシーンでの本作品の扱われ方がとても印象的で気になったので読んでみることにした。
大江健三郎の作品というと学生の頃に授業で扱われた「死者の驕り」の印象が強烈で、冷たい、無機質、小難しい文章を書く作家というイメージがあった。
本作品はそのイメージが一掃されるほど人間味に溢れた作品だと思う。
大江作品のもつひんやりとした冷静な雰囲気は変わらないけれどどこか温かい。
描かれる家族の環境は少し特殊でもう少し大げさに描かれそうなものだが、どのエピソードも大げさではなくさりげなく淡々と描かれている。
だからきっと、これは特別な話ではなくどこにでもある"静かな生活"の中の一つなのかもしれないなと感じた。

「私がお嫁に行くならね、イーヨーがいっしょだからね。そこで静かな生活がしたい。」海外へ行ってしまった両親と残された三人の兄弟。障害を持つ兄のイーヨーと大学生の妹のマーちゃん。静かな生活を送る二人はさまざまな事件を通して暴力や偏見を真のあたりにしながらも力強く生きようとする。電車の中でてんかんの発作を起こしながらも、妹を人ごみからかばおうとするイーヨーの姿にははっとさせられる。イーヨーはこんな大変な時でも妹を守ろうとしている、なんと立派なお兄さんだろう！と自分の中にある曖昧な価値観の中ではっきりと「美しい」と思う光景を目にし涙が出た。

大江さんの作品のなかで、この作品はちょっと雰囲気が違います。でも私がいちばん好きなのがこの「静かな生活」です。大江さんの娘さんが光さんとの日常を語るようなかたちで物語りは進行します。読むと気持ちがほわっと暖かくなるような感じです。大江健三郎なんて読めない！と思ってた方も、この本なら大丈夫！　ぜひこの本から読んで見てください！
