本作は、いろいろな漫画家が、架空戦記作家としても有名な中里融司の原作で描いた太平洋戦争のアンソロジーです。
内容はといえば、まさに兵器マニアの夢が詰まったおもちゃ箱のようなもの。

51cm砲九門を搭載した巨大戦艦が出てくるは、震電・烈風・秋水など未完成の航空機も出てくるは、米本土を直接狙える超重爆撃機派出てくるはで、好きなヒトにはたまりません！
戦略面でのIFとしては、ダッチハーバー攻略部隊がミッドウェーに向かい、帝国がミッドウェーを制圧する話などもあります。

その他人間ドラマに重点を置いた作品としては、日本人の潜水艦艦長とアメリカ人の駆逐艦艦長の因縁の対決のエピソード、満州での日本人パイロットと亡命白ロシア人女性のラブロマンスなどがあり、架空戦記のあらゆるエッセンスが凝縮されています。絵も通常の劇画調のみならず、やわらかい感じの漫画かも起用していて、今風な感じが出ています。
