高倉健さんの作品の中で、”鉄道員（ぽっぽや）”が好きでＤＶＤを購入しました。廃線の決まった北国のローカル線と同時に定年を迎える佐藤乙松駅長（高倉健さん）の鉄道員としての信念をつらぬいた感動する作品です。不器用で鉄道一筋に生きる佐藤駅長は、仕事一筋で駅長の職務をまっとうする姿に身の引き締まる思いで見ています。それが一人娘の死、そして妻の死を乗り越えてきた男の姿だと思いました。妻の死に目にあえなかった悔しさなど、さまざま困難を乗り越えてきた鉄道員の信念を高倉健さんが厳しく演じている作品です。主人はこういう生き方ができたらいいと見るたびにいつも言っています。女の私には、もう少し家族優先にしてほしいという思いがありますが、佐藤駅長の生き方に共鳴しております。ＤＶＤのジャケットの風景がこの作品にマッチしてとてもいいように思います。

何度見ても泣けてしまう。
不器用な昭和の男といえばもう、健さんしかいない。

何にも前情報もなくこの作品を見た。
広末涼子演じる娘が幽霊なのか、健さんの幻想だったのかは分からないが、
とにかくビックリした。
なんだか「シックスセンス」的なやられかたをしてしまった。
で、嗚呼、日本人がシックスセンス的なものを撮るとこうなるんだなと、
一人得心した次第です。

仕事のために家族を犠牲にしてしまう、不器用な昭和の日本の男が描かれています。
今や個人主義や利己主義は欧米だけのものではなく、この日本にも着実に浸透しています。
仕事とは何でしょう？
「おとさん」にとって仕事とは、列車を滞りなく走らせ、駅を守ることでした。
列車に乗る人達の為の大切な仕事だったのです。
「おとさん」にとって仕事とは、自分だけのためのものではなかった。
列車を使う人達のためでもあった。

どんなことがあっても家族を犠牲にしちゃあいけない。
しかし図らずも、人のために自分達が犠牲になってしまうことも厭わない、
そんな人がいたっていい。
国を守るために戦地に赴く兵士達も、こうではないだろうか。

平成生まれの人達には理解し得ないかもしれない、昭和の不器用な男のファンタジーです。

飛行機の中、TV放映で幾度か見ましたが、今回家で落ち着いて観たくDVDを購入しました。
『字幕表記』が選べるのもDVDならでは、耳の少し遠くなった私にはありがたいオプションです。
浅田次郎の原作は何本か映画化されていますが、『鉄道員（ぽっぽや）』は作者の意図がスクリーンに忠実に反映されており秀逸です。
高校生になった雪子に建さんが最後に言う台詞、何度観ても涙があふれます。
