   地方の名家に生まれた政夫（桑原正）は、貧しい従姉妹の民子（松田聖子）と相思相愛の仲になる。しかし世間の目を気にした大人たちはふたりの仲を引き裂くべく、無理やり民子を別の男性に嫁がせ、やがて彼女は帰らぬ人となる……。
   伊藤左千夫の名作文学三度目の映画化。そもそもは松田聖子初主演のアイドル映画として企画されたものだが、同じくこれが監督デビュー作となった澤井信一郎監督の初々しくも繊細で落ち着きのある名演出によって、日本映画ならではの叙情あふれる名編の誕生となった。それまでどちらかというと蔑視的に捉えられていたアイドル映画だが、本作を含めた80年代初頭の優れた作品群の台頭によって、やがて日本映画の一ジャンルとして屹立していくことにもなっていく。澤井監督もまたその旗手としてその後も数々の名作を手がけていくのだ。（増當竜也）

のっけからオープニングの綿摘みの格好って笑顔で駆けて来る聖子ちゃんにおぉ~！（笑）
主題歌の『花一色』も耳に残る名曲です。

ちょっとコミカルな雑巾がけシーンがあったり
とうもろこしを収穫しながら歌を歌うシーンは必見です。本当にうまい！

樹木希林 演ずるお手伝いのお増がだんだん同情して優しくなっていくんですがその演技にも泣かされます。
涙なしには観れませんよ~。ぜひハンカチの用意をしてからご覧下さいね。

とにかく原作がいいんだな。だからどの女優版がいいかなんてのは愚の骨頂。
みんな民さんと政夫さんにどっぷり感情移入して見ればいいんです。
とはいえ、この松田聖子版のいいところはまず、聖子のルックスが庶民的なところ。本当に民さんなんだ（笑）。そしてタイトルにもあげたように主題歌の「花一色」が映画を最高に盛上げてくれるんです。私なんざぁもうこの曲聴いただけで涙が出てきちゃう、もうパブロフの犬状態。聖子は歌うまいよな~。
この映画、何年かに1度は見たくなっちゃって、たまたまNHKBSで録画したのを先週見て、盛上がってDVD検索かけてみたらなんと先月出たばかりだったんですね。これで劣化無しで見られる！

　懐かしさで胸がジーンとして、ＤＶＤを買うとすぐ、立て続けに二度鑑賞しました。
　妖艶な聖子姫へと転身してゆく以前の、あどけなさの残る聖子ちゃん。田舎娘の民さん役にぴったりだと、改めてそう思います。無邪気で明るい民さんの笑顔が次第に減ってゆき、思い詰めた顔、忍び泣きする姿を見ると、こちらまで胸がギュッと痛くなります。
　小糠雨降る船着場での別れ、花嫁行列での別れ、そして迎える永遠の別れ。三度の別れにおいて、結局民さんの言葉は一言もなく、そこがまた泣けてくるんです。
　鬼のような姑の仕打ちにじっと耐えながら、健気に働く民さん。辛さをただ我慢するだけの嫁入り。こんな酷い、悲しい結婚、今の時代にはまず無いでしょう。封建的な村社会に対して、喚き散らしてやりたい憤りを、ある部分では強く感じました。
　しかし、規律やしきたりを重んずる時代だからこそ、純粋で美しい心が育つのかも知れないと、そんなことまでも考えさせられました。他人の迷惑も顧みず、自分さえ楽しければよいという昨今。今こそ、この作品を観て素直に泣ける気持ちを大切にしたい。そして、純な“民さんの心”を忘れずにいたいと思います。
