　ちょっと退屈な上巻に較べ、圧倒的な勢いで場面が転換しストーリーが進んでゆく。
　とてつもない構図と意外な結末、最後のまとめ方もなかなか良い。
　それにつけても、上巻、下巻と分冊にするのは良し悪しだと思う。
　本作については、気分的に上巻で一区切りついてしまって、下巻に向かう勢いがそがれる嫌いがあるのだ。
　上巻の終わりの方に、下巻につながる盛り上がりがあるといいのだが、というところで全体の評価は“４”。

　本書はフリーメイソンとのつながりを打ち出してはいるが、フリーメイソンに食いついて、その歴史の謎に迫ることも無く、ノンストップでサスペンス・スリラーとしての役割を終えてしまった。
　ので、「ダ・ヴィンチ・コード」もどきを期待していた私は肩透かしを食らってしまった。私のように本書に期待をしている人は読まなくてもよい一冊である。ただしミステリーとして読むなら、それはそれで一つの選択であろう。
