昔BS&T、シカゴ、そしてこのグループ、チェイスに与えられていた「ブラスロック」という言葉。実はこのグループにこそ一番ふさわしいのではないか？

チェイスが本作でデビューした1971年、BS&TはIV、シカゴはIIIを発表していたが、それらと聴き比べるとチェイスの4本のTp.が炸裂する音造りは全く異色。アップテンポな曲が多いことだけでなくハイ・ノート出しまくりのTp.隊にリズムセクションが完全に負けているように思う。それが狂おしいほどの緊迫感を生み出してRockしているのだが、良くも悪しくも息詰まる。

このアルバムは鮮烈なデビュー作。"Get It On"がまだ少しはソフトな印象だが、ホーンセクションがリズムを刻んでしまっている上にベースもドラムも遊びが感じられず、変拍子も殆ど無い。テクニックは十二分なのだが…アルバム全部を通して聴くと辛くなるかも…

数曲聴くだけならカッコ良いし、元気が出るかもしれないが、全体を聴くと癒しが欲しくなるのは歳のせいだけか？スイング出来ない硬質さが目立つリズムが残念。短命だったグループだけに本作だけでなく第2、3作の"Enna"、"Pure Music"が日本でもCD化されれば…と願う。だが、こんなアルバムは空前絶後！カッコ良さと切迫感…それが貴重な作品だと思う。

　ウディ・ハーマン・オーケストラ（ジャズのビッグ・バンド）などでの活躍が知られるビル・チェイス率いるチェイスの1971年3月のデビュー・アルバム。ＢＳ＆Ｔやシカゴと異なり、ブラス・セクションはトランペットのみという特異な編成のブラス・ロック・バンドで、ヴォーカルよりも大きく聴こえるようにプロデュースされている通り、炸裂するトランペットが一番の聴き物である。

　ＢＳ＆Ｔやシカゴではブラスのオトに厚みがあってオーケストラのように聴こえるところだが、このバンドでは異様にシャープに聴こえる。トランペットのメンバーはジャズ方面の活動をしてきたと思われるが、あくまでもロックのイディオムで勝負しており、ジャズの側面はあまり感じさせない。メイナード・ファーガソンのようなぶっ飛びのハイ・ノートも聴かせるが、ベル・トーンや複数のラインをトランペットが吹き分けるなどのアレンジが驚くほどタイトで、ついつい引き込まれる。
　特に一曲目の凄まじいインスト、ヒット曲"Get It On"（もちろんＴ-ＲＥＸとは同名異曲）、「ルパン3世のテーマ」の決めのフレーズはここからパクッたんでないかという6曲目など聴き所は多い。

　なお、チェイスはアルバムを合計3枚出しており、残りの2枚はこれまで日本では出ていないが、2,3枚目が"2 in 1"として出ている。

１９７１年に発売になった　チェイスの唯一のヒット曲　GET　IT　ON〜黒い炎が収録されているデビューアルバム　ブラスセクションを加えた９人からなるバンドでなかなか切れのあるサウンドを聞かせてくれます　同じ時期にイギリスでT・REXのGET　IT　ONもリリースされたがアメリカではBANG　A　GONGとタイトルを変更しなければならない程、大ヒットを記録する　とはいえ全米でのチャートは２４位止まり、しかし記憶に残る一曲となった　この一曲の為に買う価値ありです　マンハッタン・ジャズ・オーケストラや和田　アキコらのカバーもお勧めです　その他日本のバンドでTOPSと言うバンドもカバーしていました
