　ここまでオノ・ヨーコに批判的な文章を書ける中山康樹に大拍手。たしかに、ジョン・レノンがテレビに登場する度に「イマジン」が流れ、常に「愛と平和の使者」のような扱いばかり受けている現象を、苦々しく感じていたジョンのファンは少なくないはず。

　そりゃ「愛と平和」は大切なことですが、このようなことをおおっぴらに公言するのは恥ずかしい、ある意味ナンセンスなことだ、ということを生前のジョン・レノンは知っていたに違いないのだ。私は中山氏の意見を完全に支持します。

「リンゴの歌は下手だ」の「ヨーコは邪魔（これは賛成だけど）だ」の「ジョージのインド音楽は気の迷いだ」の、この本はとても入門編だとは思えない、読んでいてうんざりした。この著者は相当偏った考えを持っておられるようです（冗談で書いておられるようには思えないから）

だいたい「１」を聴いてビートルズに興味を持てばオリジナルアルバムを聴けばいいし、興味を持てなければそれまでじゃないか、ビートルズを聴くのに順番なんてないよ、まったくもって大きなお世話だ。

初心者に向けるなら、ただ一言「アンソロジー、BBC、YSソングトラックからビートルズに入るなよ」それだけで済むじゃないか（だいたい70年代にビートルズファンになった人の大多数はベスト盤の「赤盤／青盤」から入っているんだけどな）

７７年からのビートルズファンですが、これまで読んだビートルズ本の中でも５指に入る面白さでした。著者のビートルズへの思いに感動し、ユーモアに笑い、ビートルズの魅力をあらためて確認することもできました。マニアックな情報の提供におぼれることもなく、ただ著者の主観によってビートルズの音楽そのものの魅力を言葉をつくして語っています。もちろん本書の主役はビートルズではなく、著者である中山康樹自身です。中山康樹のユーモアに笑い、中山康樹の想いに読者は感動するのです。優れた評論はすべてそのようなものです。すべてのビートルズファン、初心者にお勧めします。
