内容は良いのですが、旧本の翻訳から見ると、新本の翻訳が少しいただけない。
大魔王→大魔法使い、レッドアイ→赤目、など納得できない訳が多い。
この点、少し幻滅した。

待ちわびていました。
ソーサリーシリーズの完結巻です。
「七匹の大蛇」からやられた方は
大蛇全てを倒した人と倒しきれなかった人とのストーリーの進め方が多少
異なることになるでしょう。
第１~第３巻に添付していた「魔法書」のイラスト部分はカットされて
しまうらしいですが，その代わり第１巻~第３巻までに登場した
謎解きの詳細が添付されているそうです。
禁呪文ZEDの正体を解かないと，クリアは難しいでしょう。
でも，ある方法を用いればきちんと戦士タイプでもクリアできるようになってます。
内容も多いので，他の巻と比べなんか得した気分になれます。

ある意味、ゲームブックの悲劇は、このソーサリー四部作が「元祖でありながら既に完成されてしまっていた」事に尽きる。生みの親であるスティーブ・ジャクソンにしてすら、この四部作以降、これらを超える作品は作れなかったのだから、いかに完成度が高かったかが分かる。

ジョン・ブランシュにより描き込まれた挿絵も非常に独特で強烈な魅力があり、この人の挿絵が無ければ、いかに作り込まれた内容であろうとソーサリーの魅力は半減してしまっていただろう（残念ながらこの復刻版の表紙絵はオリジナルの雰囲気をまったく伝えていない）。この人の描く絵には「生活臭」がある。街の裏通りの危険な雰囲気、そこに建つ薄汚れた小屋と奇妙な住人、埃の被った棚に積まれた小物の数々、臭い立つ肥溜めなど、最近のゲームの定番となった小奇麗な「中世ファンタジー」とはまるで違う世界の息遣いを感じる。この巻でも肥溜めの中を散々探し回って何も無かったあげくに体力を減らされた人は多いだろう（笑）。

ただ、ズル無しで真っ当にプレイすると非常に難度は高い。「道を右に行くか左に行くか」などの単純な二択でもうクリア出来なくなる場合がよくあるのがゲームブックの欠点だが、取り返しの付かない所が現実でもあるので、そのシビアさにどっぷり漬かって遊ぶのも醍醐味と言える。

もしRPGはテレビゲームでしかプレイした事の無い人は、一度試しに遊んでみては。

ＰＳ．他の人も指摘しているように、復刻版の不満はタイトルや新訳にセンスが無いこと。こういう無粋な変更は止めて欲しい。
