初心者向けの『論語』ガイドブックだろうと思い、立ち読みで済ませるつもりでいたのに、手にとって数分後には買う気にさせられてしまった本です。『論語』の中から選び出した121章の言葉が、270ページの中に見事にまとめられています。文庫本でありながら文字が大きいうえに、書き下し文は更に読みやすい大きさでルビ付きですから、思わず声に出して読みたくなります。それ以外に、孔子の人間像や時代背景も鮮やかに伝わってきますし、何よりも、著者の研究の足跡が見えるところに、他に無い魅力を感じることができました。
著者がこの本の読者に想定されている中学生の頃に、この本と出逢えていたとしたら、学ぶことに対する姿勢と方向性は違ったものになっていたでしょうし、私の人生もより良くなっていただろうと思います。「〜だったら」という過去形の話は無意味でしょうが、将来がある人に薦めたい一冊です。学ぶことの面白さや楽しさを知る上でも、読んで損の無い名著ですから。

中国哲学会重鎮である加地先生の書き下ろし文庫本です。書店で見てすぐに購入しましたが、期待に違わず読みやすく、分かりやすい本です。
この本は加地先生が自分の孫がやがて中学生になったときに読んでほしいとの気持ちから、対象層を中高生向けに定めていますが、大人も勿論楽しめます。幻の名著『漢文法基礎』の著者と言われる加地先生。既に69歳となられたようですが、旺盛な筆力に、今後の著作も楽しみです。

「しかし、それは程度を落とすという意味ではない･･･」
「程度の差はなく真実はひとつである･･･」

著者はこの視点で、執筆をしたそうです。

第一部は孔子の生涯を、第二部に論語のことば、
巻末には「論語」から生まれた有名な言葉や、
ことわざについてまとめてられています。

「論語」「孔子」のエッセンスを凝縮した内容。
文庫本でもあり、気楽に[論語]に入門できる良書です。

漢字が苦手な人もＯＫです。（私！）
書き下し文には、全てルビが入っています。
今まで「論語」は面白そうだけど･･･
と、躊躇していた人にもお薦めですよ！
