この作品、評価が不当に低い。１stとはかなりかけ離れた音作りになっているから、というのが大半の意見だけど、その「大半」ってのは
デイープ・パープルの幻影に取り付かれた時代錯誤で価値観が凍結
した様式美万歳ブリティッシュハードロックオヤジという輩である。
もっと自由な心でこの作品を聴いて欲しい。漂うような何とも言えな

い浮遊感。宇宙の深遠に引っ張られていくような曲作り。秀逸だよ。
最近のストーナーとかあの辺を聴いてる人ならNATASの"Toba Trance"
みたいな浮遊感、といえば分かってもらえるかな。だからこの作品は
下らない様式美だとかブリティッシュハードロックの伝統だとかそう
いうものを嫌ってる人にこそ聴いて欲しい名盤。

１９７３年リリースの元ディープパープル初代ボーカリスト・ロッドエヴァンス率いるキャプテンビヨンドのセカンドアルバム・・・迷いがあったのでしょう急激にパワーダウンしています、ファーストがあまりにも良かったし。アメリカンマーケットを意識したのか、パーカッションをメンバーに加え大きくサウンドが変化しています。ファーストはブリティッシュとアメリカンロックが見事に調和した素晴らしいアルバムでしたが、このセカンドではバンドの方向性がちぐはぐになってしまったのが本当残念です・・・ファーストを踏襲していればとんでもないモンスターバンドに化けてたかも知れません！！パープルマニアはもちろん見かけるうちにゲットしておきましょう・・・因みにサードも出てるんですよ、知ってました？
