2004年に出版されたばかりのコースヴェット校訂による第4交響曲の全集版第3稿を使った世界初演として、話題を呼んだ演奏会のライヴ。内藤彰と東京ニューシティ管が意欲的に取り組むシリーズの一環だが、特に第4楽章のテンポ感と響きの美しさが新鮮だ。

俺はトクベツなんだと思っている人は本人が信じているほど稀少な存在ではなく、フツウであろうあろうとしている人こそが実はぶっ飛んでいたりするというのは、どうにも皮肉な話だ。そして皮肉な話というのは、往々にして第一級の笑い話になりうる。と、徳永憲の新作を聴いているうちに、そんなことを考える。たとえば「読書のポーズ」で描かれる、ページは飛ばし読みでいいから重要なのは読書のポーズなんだからという男の滑稽さ。徳永の筆はしごく辛辣で皮肉めいているようでいて、すくい取ろうとしているのはそこから漂ってくる可笑しみであるという事実。そこにこの希代の吟遊詩人の最大の魅力がつまっている。サウンド的には『アイヴィー』の中の「優しいマペット」のようなアコースティック寄りのシンプルなバンド・サウンドを思い浮かべてくれればいい。今回は、あの“一見さわやか”路線で貫いている。聴きやすいという意味で、いよいよ徳永の不埒な囁きは危険度を増してきた。 (平野敬三) --- 2000年11月号
