　エレーンはジャパユキさん（死語？）の歌です。
　この曲のとおり当時フィリピンなんかから出稼ぎに来る彼女たちの背中には両親や弟･妹を背負っていた。だから慣れぬ酒の席そして時には体さえオモチャにされる事さえ甘受せねばならなっか彼女たちの悲哀を切々と歌ったこの曲は、とても重い。
　【生きる】ということの根源的な意味を問う、このアルバムの意味は大きい。
　全体として社会から阻害されている人々への応援歌とでもいうべき曲ばかりを集めたアルバムだから疲れた人、人生に疑問を持つ若者には是非聴いて欲しい。

かねてからこのアルバムのことは聞いてはいましたが、９０年代からの歌から聴き始めた自分にとって、なかなか手を出せない１枚でした。

全くあずかり知らぬうちに生まれ落ちてしまい、自分ではどうすることも出来ない、生きているということ、そのことに由来する不条理。自分以外（もしかしたら自分自身も？）の全ては全く不可知の他者（人に限らずこの世界の存在全てが）で、我が身一つでその全てに対しなければならないという絶対的な孤独。それでも「生きていてもいいですか」と、なお問わざるを得ない矛盾。

今日の「転生」に至るにはこの「生きていてもいいですか」を経なければならなかったのかと、にわかファンの自分としては改めて中島みゆきの歌の世界の奥行きの深さを実感しました。

特に「エレーン」の最後の絶唱は地の底から響いてくるような、まさに心を震わされる歌でした。

私はLP時代にみゆきにハマリマシタ。当時、オールナイト・ニッポンのパーソナリティをしていた彼女とギャップを、だいぶ感じた一枚でした。
「うらみます」は文句なく怖いです。
タイトルの、「生きていてもいいですか」は、「エレーン」の中の歌詞の一部にでてきて、彼女の住んでいたアパートで実在にいた人をモデルにしたとかしないとか。コンサートでいっておりました。これもとにかく怖いです。
「異国」は名ドラマの「北の国から」でも話題になった曲。その歌詞が心を揺さぶります。ちなみに同ドラマでは会話の中に「中島みゆきっていくつなんだろ」とセリフで言わせてしまうあたりが、みゆきがまとっていたオーラを感じさせます。
とにかくすごい！
みゆき様の代表作と言っていいでしょう。で☆5つです。

「うらみ・ます」を聞きたくて買いました。私は男性ですが振られてばかり（捨てられて）なのでとても共感できます。これ以外の曲はあまりピンときませんでした。
