4.0 out of 5 stars 小説だからこそ可能な巧妙さを持った作品, 2009/8/3
「向日葵の咲かない夏」に続いて、道尾作品は2冊目です。
この作品は、「向日葵の〜」に比べれば、読みやすくて現実的なストーリー。

主役は盗聴専門の私立探偵ですが、まわりを固める脇役達も魅力的です！
ミステリとしての結末には、あまり捻りはありませんが、結末に至るまでの伏線と、その回収の仕方は見事です。
ストーリーの途中で放置されたままになっていた謎も、きちんと解決してくれます。

何と言っても、最後の最後に語られる登場人物の過去は、小説だからこそ可能となる巧妙さを持ち合わせています。
きっと、映像化することは無理だろうなぁ・・・。
思う存分に、騙されて下さい！

三梨幸一郎は、特異な“耳”を持つ私立探偵で、
その能力を駆使した盗聴を主な仕事としている。

現在、ある産業スパイを調査している三梨は、冬絵という女性と知り合う。

いつも大きなサングラスをしている冬絵を、自分と同類
だと感じた三梨は、彼女を探偵事務所にスカウトした。

それから数日経ったある日、三梨が調査していた男が殺害される。

男が殺害された時の様子を、たまたま聴いていた三梨は、
前後の状況から、犯人は冬絵ではないかという疑いを抱く……。



序盤において、読者をミスディレクションしていく会話が秀逸。
（犬の鼻についての話や、ある人物が千里眼らしいという話）

読者は、この段階でまんまと先入観を抱かされ、終盤で驚かされることになります。


また、本作では、先の殺人事件と並行して、七年前に失踪し、のちに、死体
となって発見された、三梨の元同居人・秋絵の事件の謎も解明していきます。

ここにもひとつ、騙りの仕掛けが施されています。


軽ハードボイルドものであり、擬似家族ものでもある本作ですが、
登場人物にデリケートな属性が付与されているため、読了後に、
違和感や不快感を覚える向きもあるかもしれません。

そのあたり、ミステリに何を求めるかで、本作の評価が変わってくると思いますが、
個人的には、細かい趣向を巧みに連鎖させていく作者の手腕が堪能でき、十分、
楽しめました。

叙述トリック、ということで気をつけて読んでいたが、
「え、こんなところがミスリードされてたの？」とびっくり。

騙されたが、それはそれで。だって、そのために読んでいるのだから。
