1978年9月後楽園ホール及び郵便貯金小ホールで行なわれた伝説のLIVEアルバム。2002年にCDとして再発売された際も好セールスを記録。参加ミュージシャンを見ればおわかりの通り、もはや再現不可能な超豪華メンバーによる熱い演奏がこれでもかと繰り広げられる。当時、これらのミュージシャンは、グイグイ頭角を現してきた時期にあたり、まさに丁々発止の、もしかすると彼らのベスト・プレイを聴くことができる。収録曲も、この後、各々のミュージシャンのソロ・アルバムに収録される代表曲的レパートリーでもあり、まさにフュージョンを知るにはまずはこの1枚から。

７８年、日本にて行なわれたライブを収録したアルバムです。
何といっても、メンツが凄い。ブレッカーブラザース、デヴィッドサンボーンのホーン隊に、スティーブガッド、アンソニージャクソンのリズム隊、ｇにスティーブカーン、ｋｅｙに深町純、リチャードティー。今となっては、集まったことが奇跡とも言えるメンツ。
曲も、後々、彼らのアルバムにも収録される人気曲が目白押しなのですが、これぞニューヨークのフュージョンというべきサウンドになっています。演奏でいえば、スティーブガッドのプレイが、素晴らしいのは確かですが、マイニエリのｖｉｂも秀逸です。
少し寂しいのは、タイトルになっている深町純の存在感が薄いことですが、ｋｅｙの役割、これだけのメンツの中ということを考えると仕方ないですかね。
フュージョンの最高傑作かどうかは、別にして、フュージョンを語る上で、はずせないアルバムであることは確か。
