司馬遼太郎や山岡荘八の実在の人物の戦国や幕末の激動の時代小説を好んで読んでいたのですが、ﾌｨｸｼｮﾝ物も読んでみたいと思っていました。
表の顔は安い治療代で庶民を救う鍼の名医。裏の顔は金次第で暗殺をする仕掛け人。作者のあとがきによると「人間は良いことをしながら悪いことをし、悪いことをしながら良いことをしている」を主題にしているとのことです。
私はﾃﾞﾆｰﾛやｽｺｾｯｼ監督の映画や渋いJAZZも好きで、この本にも暗黒街に生きる男の哀愁や渋さを感じました。あとがきにもﾌﾗﾝｽ映画の良質なﾉﾜｰﾙを連想する。と書かれており、作者も戦前のﾌﾗﾝｽ映画を好んでいるとのことでどおりで人物やｽﾄｰﾘｰが明と暗を巧みに描かれているんだなと納得！
暗殺といっても痛ましい暴力や凶器ではなく、人知れず鍼や毒薬で人知れず命を奪うという感じで主人公の梅安や同じく仕掛け人である彦次郎とのお互い過去の苦労を乗り越えての友情も描かれて良いです。

池波正太郎の代表作のひとつ。「鬼平犯科帳」や「剣客商売」の陰に隠れがちだが、さすがは池波正太郎。読ませてくれます。「鬼平犯科帳」や「剣客商売」には影があってもその中に一服の清涼剤のごとくのさわやかさがあるのに比べ、こちらは不安の影が霧のようにまとわりつく。主人公の職業柄、いたしかたない。しかし、藤枝梅安の視線はあくまでもやさしく、あたたかい。未完に終わった連作だが、未完のままでよかったかもしれない。

「剣客商売」で池波正太郎にはまって、あっという間に番外編も含め全部読んでしまい
なら、「鬼平」と「梅安」だと思い、それぞれを読み始めました。
まだ、「梅安」シリーズの方は、この最初の一冊だけです。

正直言って、「剣客商売」にあるどことなしかの、おかしさ。３周り以上も年若の嫁を
もらった老剣客の日々にみられる明るさ。それに親しみすぎたのかなぁ、ちょっと「殺
人」を生業とする事への抵抗があります。
どっか、殺伐としていると言うか。。。
それに、テレビの印象が強すぎて、どうしても緒形拳が浮かびます。ところが原作では
梅安は大男。何とは無しか（もちろん原作が「先」なんだけど）違和感が最後まで抜け
なくって。

とは言え、まだ一冊目。
とにかく、このまま読み進めましょう。手練手管の池波正太郎、きっと他のシリーズと
は違う切り口で、きっとトリコになるでしょうから。
