今のＳＥＥＤ同様、放送当時ガンダムファンの中で物議を呼んだ問題作。
ガンダムじゃないだの流行り物の便乗だの言われていたが、ちゃんと最後まで見たらそんな事は言えなくなっています。
ガンダム神話の殻を打ち破っただけのパワーを感じて下さい。
力強く激しく過剰演出な今川演出の虜になっている事でしょう。

オリンピックのように４年に１度行われる世界の覇権を競って戦う代理戦争。
理想的な戦争のカタチとされてきたが、戦争に理想的も何も無かった。
その事を悟った東方不敗は、理想的なアルティメットガンダムに出逢い己の理想を加速していく。
そんな中主人公のドモンは、幽閉された父を救う為国家の犬となり復讐の鬼として兄キョウジを捜し歩く。

刷り込まれた記憶、ライバル達との友情、兄弟愛に師弟愛そして育まれる愛…
この一年間でドモンは、成長し師匠を超え人間として成長する。
格闘的な部分だけ目立ちかつての「ガンダム」とは全く違ったアプローチだが、かつてのガンダムが描こうとしたテーマとさほどかわらない。
確かにリアルではない。しかし、リアルである事が「ガンダム」でもない。

「ガンダム」の何に魅力を感じるかは人それぞれだけど、私にとって「ガンダム」とはロボットの魅力を借りた人間物語だ。
笑えて泣けて感動出来るこのアニメは、ガンダムの名に恥じない作品です。
試行錯誤で手探りな前半を広い気持ちで見れたら、きっと感動的なラストに出逢えるでしょう。

リアルな戦争を描かなかったからこそ、ライブな勢いで作品をまとめれた。
中途半端に戦争を描くより立派だと思います。

　小学生だった自分には、ガンダムの格闘は、とてもよかった。前作の｢Ｖガンダム｣も毎週見ていたけど、あまり印象に残らなかった。
　ドモンを始め、キャラがとても濃いし(特に東方不敗)、話も面白い。宇宙世紀だけがガンダムでない事を、証明できるパワーがある。と思います。

ガンダムお得意の総集編や劇場版がないんですよね〜Ｇガンは。
まあ、ないのはＧガンだけではありませんが
この次のＷは総集編も劇場版もあったのでちょっと疑問。

この作品のすばらしいところはガンダムで格闘をやっちゃおう！！
っていう新たな試みですよ！！
思いません？ガンダム見ててビームサーベルとかのエネルギー切れたらもう普通に殴っちゃえばいいのにとか（笑）

その強烈な個性ゆえ風当たりの強い作品なのだが、普通に面白い。
格闘アニメが好きで、ガンダムシリーズに異常なこだわりをもってなければ
普通に楽しく見れますよ。

生身でＭＳと戦うなんてすごすぎます。
演出もオーバーとも思えるほど派手！！
聞いたところミスター味っこと同じ演出家の方なんだとか。
（間違ってたらすみません。聞いた話なので。）
私はずっと爆笑して見てましたね。

それに、ガンダム世界では普通地球に住んでる人が優位な立場なんですが、
このガンダムは逆で、汚染された地球に住んでる人が貧しく弱い人々で、コロニーに住んでいる人が優位な立場の人たちです。
これも面白いですね。
いろんな意味でガンダムの歴史を変えたことは間違いない作品。
とにかく熱いので体育会系のノリについていけない方はまず無理でしょう。
