   槇原敬之がソニーミュージックに在籍していた期間に発表した楽曲を中心に選曲した、コンピレーション・アルバム。
   ドラマの主題歌としてお茶の間に流れヒットしたポップな<2><8>、CMソングとして使用された<1><3><7>など、一般ファンにも耳なじみのある曲とともに、槇原ならではの遊び心あふれる<4>、アルバムの表題曲である重要楽曲<5><10>、いとこであるローリー寺西こと寺西一雄に提供した曲のセルフカヴァー<9>など、コアファンにとってもうれしい楽曲のオンパレードだ。さらに、敬愛する大貫妙子や矢野顕子をカヴァーした<11><12>、ワーナー移籍後にリリースした<13><14>、初期の名曲<15>なども網羅し、2000年末にリリースされたシングルコレクションとは一線を画した充実の内容となっている。

ファンなら既にみんな持っている曲ばかり集めたアルバム。だからベストと呼ぶのでしょうか？しかもシングルばかり・・・他のアルバム未収録の曲には興味は無いし・・　でも、やはりいい曲がたくさん入ってます。最近好きになった人には聞いて欲しいです。でも、スマイルのベストの方を断然お勧めです。

シングル盤を中心としたベスト盤。
でも、なぜか物足りなく聞こえる。

すべてシングルバージョンで収められているからだ。

ファンなら、もう、持っている曲ばかり、しかもアルバムで。
アルバムバージョンでの迫力が少し大人しくなってしまっているのである。

私にとっては、ちょっと物足りないベスト盤である

Smiling以降マッキーから遠ざかっている人に是非聞いてほしいです。
甘く切なく、濃厚です。
レーベル等大人の事情はよくわかりませんが、
復帰後の「桃」「太陽」が入っているのも親切だと思います。
