”宇宙の戦士”もそうですが、今書かれたとしても十分に通用する内容です。やっぱり名作は色あせないってことなんでしょうね。

ハインラインは、何十年も前に発表したこの作品で、現在のネット社会に通じる未来をすでに予見しています。
今になって読んでみると、改めて彼の偉大さを理解できます。

物語の舞台は、移住した人類が月に築いた月面都市です。この都市では、あらゆる生活インフラが複雑なコンピューター同士の接続
（今ではあたり前のネットの概念にちかい）によって処理されており、ある日突然、その複雑な接続の中から意識体が生まれます。
この意識体が物語りの核となるのですが、このアイデア自体すごいと思いません？
この小説が書かれた当時はインターネットすらなかったのですから。

他にも戦争や革命の要諦、他者との交渉術（外交）といった内容にも、軍隊経験者のハインラインらしく、
踏み込んで描かれており、組織マネージメントという観点から読んでも、とても興味深い内容になっています。

古典的なＳＦ長編エンターテイメントの傑作だと思います。
地球の支配を受ける月の独立戦争を描く作品です。
ロシア系のディテールも入りますが
アメリカの独立戦争や、アイルランドの独立戦争がイメージになっているようです。
主人公のコンピュータ技師はオーストラリア移民のアイリッシュ。
パブでアイリッシュシチューを食べているシーンが泣かせます。

古いノリですがアメリカではさぞかし受けただろうと
思えます。

「無料のものはない」という厳しい環境の中で営まれる
月世界の共生家族制度「ライン」や慎ましくもたくましい
家族の生き様や情熱が現代の我々に示唆するものは大きいと思います。
美しく知的なヒロイン、ワイオミングはマトリックスのトリニティの
原型の様にも思えます。

ＳＦの形をとりながらも、自由を求める人々の強烈なうねりと熱気がこの本のテーマなのでしょう。
愛らしいコンピュータと人間群像を見事に描いた作品です。

　意識を持ったコンピューターと地球からの独立を望む月植民地の住人が手を携え、強大な地球と抗争し、独立を勝ち取っていきます。
　その組織作りや地球への攻撃方法などが、「えっ」と思うくらい意外ながらとてもリアルで引き込まれていきます。背景の月世界やその住人たちの描写もアメリカの開拓時代の雰囲気で生き生きとしていて身近に感じられます。

　ＳＦにおける宇宙を股に架けた人類の歴史の中の「一番最初の星間戦争」ではないでしょうか？評判を気にするより素直に読んだ方が良い作品だと思います。
