どうして死んでしまったのかは、結局、わかりません。
それがかえって、作品の方向としてよかったと思います。
謎解き小説になっても、彼女が死んでしまっている限り、
本当の答えなど、知りえるはずもないし…。

この作品を読むと、確かに年老いてからも、性欲はあり、
その欲求を全うしたい人もいて、また、美しい思い出の中に生きて、
それを、わざわざ汚すような行動はしたくない人もいるのですね。
